Last
Thursday we were happy to meet an enthusiastic English teacher who came to Zlatoust for a few weeks to share his experience with the
local university students.
Jay
Gonzalez who speaks very good Russian gladly agreed to meet with my students
and colleagues in our Language Lab. Gulnara Khakimova, in charge of foreign
languages at Zlatoust branch of South Ural
State University,
accompanied Jay to our school. It was her application for a Fulbright English
Language Assistant which was considered positively by the Program
Administration.
But not the
Russian language was the reason for Joy’s visit to our school. He responded
right way when he learnt that our school students take intensive English for 6
hours a week as he was used to learning Russian at university.
Jay told us
about differences between British and American English and many more things
which we usually ask talking to native speakers. He was also interested to
learn about our ePals experience and school student projects.
